Anne started highland dancing at the very young age of three.
She soon became a whiz kid in her pas-de-basques and entered her first competition at the age of four!
At the age of 9, Anne started touring with the Buchan Pipe Band
demonstrating the art of traditional highland dancing. Anne performed around the UK for many years including performing in
front of the Queen at the famous Braemar Highland Games at the age of 10.
Anne joined the Lawrence Dance School at the age of twelve,
mainly because she wanted to further her knowledge of highland dancing and compete more regularly.
Anne became the North Of Scotland Pre-Championship winner in
Inverness in October 1989 at the age of 13. She worked very hard for this gaining a first in the Highland Fling, first in
the Seann Truibhas and a second in the Reel. ( She kicked the swords - so no place for that!!)
She competed travelling all over Scotland every weekend winning
and losing, haha, competitions and highland games. She has also represented Scotland twice in Bressuire, France, twinned with
the local town of Fraserburgh.
Anne worked her way through her grades in examinations and at
the age of seventeen gained her Students examination with the UKA. She was examined by Mona Grant from Buckie. During that
time Anne helped out at her dance teachers classes gaining experience in the teaching sector. A year later in September 1994
she gained highly commended (highest award at that time) in her associates exam being examined by Betty Jessamin of Huntly.
In October 1994 Anne opened her new dance school with just seven
pupils in the village of Crimond in Aberdeenshire. A few months later Anne started classes in the town of Fraserburgh teaching
highland, national, cheerleading, majorettes, ballet and tap. Classes built up to a huge role and over the years Anne taught
in the villages of Boddam and Maud teaching all forms and including the latest craze to dancing- line dancing!
Anne opened her own studio on Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire in
1998 and has continued to teach there as well as the local town of Peterhead working with pupils through their examinations
performing to the highest level of dance!
